Environment This plant will grow in moist soil. Suitable soil is well-drained/loamy. The pH preference is an acidic to neutral (less than 6.8 to 7.2) soil.

The flowers are fragrant, showy and suitable for cut flowers.

Culture Notes This plant usually has very large (8" wide), showy (red with white margins) flowers. Red fleshy bumps appear in the center of the blossoms. There can be more than 30 flowers on a stem, which may need support. Its end of summer blossoms have a strong, bold fragrance.
